Rare Collectible Silk Scarf — Jean Tinguely for National Versicherung, 1983
A truly unique piece of Swiss art history: this vibrant silk scarf was designed by the legendary Swiss artist Jean Tinguely (1925–1991) to commemorate the 100th anniversary of National Versicherung (Swiss National Insurance), as clearly inscribed on the scarf itself. Signed and dated “Jean Tinguely 1983” in print, this is a wearable work of art from one of the 20th century’s most celebrated sculptors and Neo-Dada pioneers.
The design bursts with Tinguely’s signature chaotic energy — spontaneous brushstrokes, hearts, geometric shapes, and playful scribbles in a riot of colour on an ivory-white ground. The fabric is lightweight and fine, consistent with silk or silk-blend crepe de chine.
